VINEYARDS

Our private vineyards, managed with the utmost care and respect for quality. Controlled production based on the vegetative development of each plot in Roa, La Horra and Anguix.

SOIL

Great variation of high quality terrain, mainly old, poor soils of tertiary origin, with low levels of organic matter. Sandy texture, with very good aireation and high drainage. Predominantly clayey sands, alternating with chalky layers of whitish appearance that provide elegance and finesse, as well as sandy clays with great nutrient retaining capacity.

2022 VINTAGE

The 2022 vintage was climatically challenging, but resulted in wines with great personality.
The end of 2021 was rainy, but the winter was cold and dry. The first quarter of 2022 was the driest on record.
Budbreak was good, but vegetative growth was slow. Spring, with mild and frequent storms, favored good fruit set. The summer was hot and dry, leading to one of the earliest harvests and the lowest yield in the estate’s historical record.

HARVEST

Manual harvesting in small batches per plot. The short distance to the winery allows the grapes to be casked swiftly, without these warming up and the must oxidising.

VINIFICATION

Slow full-grain alcoholic fermentation in small stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeast. Prolonged maceration, but without over-extraction. Malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels. All processes are by gravity carried out with the utmost care. The principal fruity aromas are maintained whilst endeavouring to preserve the great depth of colour, typical of the area.

TOTAL TIME IN BARREL

15 months in fine-grained French oak barrels, new and 1 year old barrels in equal parts.

AGEING IN BOTTLE

Between 16 and 20 months before release date from the winery.

TASTING NOTES

A deeply colored wine with a high intensity, showing a glyceric, unctuous texture in the glass. Intense on the nose, with fresh fruit sensations wrapped in well-integrated oak that complements—without masking—the full varietal expression of Tinta del País from Ribera del Duero.
Fresh and lively on the palate, with elegant complexity, creamy nuances, and fine toasted notes. Smooth, enveloping, and dense polymerized tannins. Subtle and refined. Well-balanced for drinking now, yet with the capacity to age in bottle for several years.
